      My guess is, that the composite would Last at least 25 years. That is the warranty on other composite products. If the bearring would Last that long, is not fir sure, eg. if your engine is not alligned.

    By using 50 ml of methanol you ensure that the stove and chimney is warm which provide good draft in the chimney. That is a good way of eliminating backdraft and smoke in the cabin which is important in a boat. I use the following procedure on a similar regulator but a different pot burner stove for an outdoor tipi tent. I open the control valve just to make sure that diesel enters the pot. Then turn of the valve and squirt some methanol into the pot. I light the methanol and wait around one minute before opening the diesel control valve on the lowest setting. After some minutes the methanol has burned off and the stove then runs on diesel.

    I just found your channel and was impressed with your deligence to take care of your vessel. I tip my hat to you, sir. Your harbor is very much exposed....it's amazing that it held together. I live in Mobile, Alabama, USA, well away from the Gulf of Mexico (my house is 300' above sea level). My 42' Beneteau sailboat, however, is docked in Pascagoula, Mississippi, which is about thirty-five miles from my home. She's docked in a well protected marina in which she has ridden out many hurricanes. Hurricane Katrina, which hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2005, caused a twenty-five foot tidal surge in our harbor. My sailing buddies and I have a proven hurricane plan that has keep our boats safe for many years. I suscribed to your channel and will enjoy following you. Congratulations on safely riding out the storm.

      Hi Jarle. I am happy that you enjoyed the videos. I checked out some of your videos, and yes they are quite similar to my latest videos. In my first videos i did not talk to the camera and i am still not 100% comfortably about it. But you appear relaxed and natural. I am a big fan of the norwegian coastline. Dramatically compared to the danish. I did visit Norway i couple of times, some 20 years ago. One of my biggest sailing moments was making it all the way into the Lysefjord. On my to do list, is a trip to Lofoten. A dream for many years. About the refleks, as soon it is installed, it does not feel that it is taking up so much space than it looks. I am happy about the simplicity on how it works. And it heats very very well.

    Thanks for the great over night report. Luckily up in North of Jutland we didn't have much devastation as you down south. I checked my boat in the afternoon and didn't bother to check in the evening. And our harbour is safer to Easterly winds than South Easterly. So it was lucky we had Easterly winds this time. Those sirenes and alarm sms's are making people more scared and insecured and I don't really fancy this.

    Do these not need a drip tray underneath them, in case of fuel being spilt? I was wondering where the air intake holes were and if, for example, the boat was knocked down or heeled badly, if the fuel would spill? Like you, I bought one of these second hand at a good price but have not fitted it yet. I was thinking of converting it to 66MW, in order to draw in the cold air from the cabin sole. Refleks sells a replacementb bottom section for them. Although they work, I'm surprised they didn't develop a more simple & cleaner way to light them. How much fuel do you use? Thanks.

    • @SailingBlueBird
      @SailingBlueBird 10 місяців тому

      Drip tray is recomended. I have been thinking of a tube from the overflow outlet from the regulator, to a tank in the bilge or under the bunk.

    • @SailingBlueBird
      @SailingBlueBird 10 місяців тому

      The air intake holes are forming a ring in the top of the burner pot. While it is burning there is not much liquid fuel in the pot, at lowest power, it might be none at all. But a knock down would let the regulator leak. It could be fun doing a healing test with the oven outside the boat.

    • @SailingBlueBird
      @SailingBlueBird 10 місяців тому

      I did a test on fuel consumption. At lowest and highest, pretty close to the given numbers on the regulater.

    • @jonahwhale9047
      @jonahwhale9047 10 місяців тому

      @@SailingBlueBird Are potential drips only likely through from the regulator? I was trying to work out where the air intakes to the combustion chamber were, they seem to be fairly low down, and wondered if they might come through them, e.g. if the flame was extinguished, and the flow not switched off. I wondered also how complete a combustion happened, & if much CO came off the stove & flue inside the cabin. I have a fairly water tight cabin & was thinking that I might need to plan an air intake somewhere sheltered. Apparently it takes about 10x the volume of air to burn the diesel. Some of the stoves can be ordered with a separate flue for the air intake, so only air from outside is consumed. In the old Danish fishing boats, they use them in sealed wheelhouses or even engine rooms. Thanks.

    how thick are your coolants hoses that goes to the boiler? Doesn't the Nanni have very thin inlet and outlet for the coolant above the pump? It's like 10mm inner diameter only? Does it matter? @@SailingBlueBird thank you -- it seems like the service agent I've been talking to about the boiler installation has given me bad advice -- he told me I should connect it at the to of the coolant water pump (in your engine there is a few inches of tube that connects the top of your coolant pump and your thermostat cap) -- that same place exists on my engine Nanni Kubota N3.21 -- the issue is that, at least on my engine, the inlets there are 10mm flat barb -- I think this is to increase pressure and allow easier to bleed air out of the system at the highest point of the coolant system (which that place is). It sounds like you have a boiler installed? Did you add the hoses connecting to the boiler between the bottom of the engine coolant water pump and the radiator? thanks~

    Good idea to lock genua with line

      I have seen a couple of genuas got unfurled in strong winds. Those who survived was saved immediately. I did loos one myself, some years ago. It was not the drum rolling, but the sail was not tight enough. The wind managed to stretch the genua, so a few sq meters was flapping. I came to the boat some hours later and the sail was destroyed.

      @@SailingBlueBird ok, that's also good to know, I can see a lot of genuas with little triangle left unfurled, I can not understand, why that seems to be common practise...

    Hello! Just found your channel. How happy are you with the Refleks stove? I am considering installing a Glembring diesel stove similar to Refleks, on my OE36 sailboat that I am restoring now. Any problems with sooting, flaming out, or something else?

      OE36 another beautiful design from Olle Enderlein. I love the simplicity of the pot-stove. Very happy with mine. One of the downsize compared to my webasto is that there no botton to turn it on - You have to preheat it (shown in another video). And it takes up space in the cabin. Avoid flaming out by using the H-chimney + 2 m of total lenght chimney (insulated above deck). Prevent sooting by using clean oil. I have really good experiense with Shell GTL diesel (Gas To Liquid), Really clean burning and I can have i running at a very low power, with 1 L consumption for 20 hr.

    How much chain do you carry in the chain locker? Is it 8mm chain?

    good videos, get envious at the boat's standing height, maybe I should look for an albino ballad.

      Thanks. Had an albin ballad for 13 years. Lived on it and sailed many places. I always had an eye on the Vega. Jarle Andhoy was a great source of inspiration when I startet sailing.
